Information about Scott Base

  • Robert Falcon Scott was a British Navy royal captain and the explorer of “Scott Base”.
  • The Scott Base is a New Zealand Antarctic research facility
  • 20 January 1957; 60 years ago

  • The Scott base is located in the pram Point on Ross Island near Mount Erebus in New Zealand's.
  • Scott base was named after “Robert Falcon Scott”.

These are some facts about Karangas

Manuhere is your visitors into the marae.
Karanga has high and nice voices.
Karangas call for other side like from the eastside and southside.
Karangas call to welcome come and bring them to the path.
Karangas call from far away.
Karangas call from far.
There are 3 part of calling, three people call at the same time, but still means that they are calling for them.
1 calls for the spirits and one welcomes them to their path and 1 welcomes them to their land.

Sun Smart & Melanoma


SLIP, SLOP, SLAP before you seek and slide.
Slip means slip on a shirt, slop means slop on sunscreen, slap means slap on a hat, seek means find shade or shelter.
If your do all 3 you will be safe in the sun.
Make sure you wear long pants, Long sleeve t shirts, and covered shoes, and a hat or an umbrella to protect your whole body.
Making sure you don’t wear a short singlet or else you might get burned or tanned.
Over 350 New Zealanders are dying from skin cancer every year.
You can get melanoma from the hot burning sun.
Skin cancer is the most common cancer that affects New Zealanders.
Melanoma is a skin cancer that can affect your body parts.
Melanoma often starts of with a mole and then it becomes big.
Bob Marley the reggae star died because of melanoma.
If you Slip,Slop,Slap. It will help you to protect yourself from the Hot Sun.

Before you go outside to play on the hot sunny day, You have to think about your skin, If you go outside you might get sun burnt or melanoma. Melanoma is very dangerous, You can die or you can get skin cancer.

When you go outside you have to use the Slip, Slop, Slap before you seek and slide. It can help you to protect yourself from the sun. If you wear short pants, short sleeve t shirt you might get a chance to get melanoma, that way we use Slip Slop Slap.

In New Zealand 350 people are dying because of skin cancer, skin cancer is just like melanoma. Skin cancer is the most common cancer that affect New Zealanders. On day this famous Reggae star Bob Marley died because of melanoma.

If you wear sunscreen and you but it all around your body you will be safe to play outside in the sun.
