Greenhouse Effects

The greenhouse effect is a natural process that warms the Earth’s surface. When the Sun’s energy reaches the Earth’s atmosphere, some of it is reflected back to space and the rest is absorbed and re-radiated by greenhouse gases.

Greenhouse gases include water vapour, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, ozone and some artificial chemicals such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).

The absorbed energy warms the atmosphere and the surface of the Earth. This process maintains the Earth’s temperature at around 33 degrees Celsius warmer than it would otherwise be, allowing life on Earth to exist.

Making Fried Rice

In cooking class we made fried rice, her are the ingrediance to making the fried rice

1. First you cook the rice
2. First you boil the chicken until it's cook.
3. Then make scraple  eggs, but it have to be half cook.
4. After that you but it on a plate,  and when you finish doing it, you cook the onion, until it looks nice and brown
5. When it cooks you but your vegetable on it and your eggs.
6.  While you but your food is cooking you get you rice that is cooking and but it in you food that on the frying pan, when you but it in, you pore a half a cup of soya sauce in your rice and let it cook

Cyber bullying

Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place over digital devices like cell phones, computers, and tablets. Cyberbullying can occur through SMS, Text, and apps, or online in social media, forums, or gaming where people can view, participate in, or share content. Cyberbullying includes sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false, or meaningful content about someone else. It can include sharing personal or private information about someone else causing embarrassment or humiliation. Some cyberbullying crosses the line into unlawful or criminal behavior.

With the prevalence of social media and digital forums, comments, photos, posts, and content shared by individuals can often be viewed by strangers as well as acquaintances. The content an individual shares online both their personal content, as well as any negative mean, or hurtful content, creates a kind of permanent public record of their views activities, and behavior. This public record can be thought of as an online reputation which may be accessible to schools, employers, colleges, clubs, and others who may be researching an individual now or in the future.

Rock Cake

Today in Food Tech we had to make Rock Cake, here are the steps to make rock cake. 

Steps 1 - 1 1/2 c of SR flour 

2- 1/2 c of sugar 

3 - 1/2 of milk and 1/0 cup of oil 

4 - 1 egg

5- Mix Well 

6 - Pour it in the baking tin, and leave in the oven for half an hour.

Basic Fry Bread

For Food Tech we cooked Fried bread and it was all right but it came out fine these are the things you need to do to cook the bread.

1. 1 1/2 c of plain flour
2. q percent of yeast
3. 1/4 c of oil
4. 2 tsp of sugar
5 1/4 c of milk, 1/2 c of warm water
6. 1 egg

Mix well and leave for 20 min, Fry with 6 bread at one time until golden brown.

Food Tech

At Food tech we are making Quiche and Miss Tuipulotu our food teacher wrote an on the board the ingredients and she said to follow the steps.


Heres the steps on how to cook them quiche

Step 1 cut the pastry into 12 muffin tray
step 2 past into the muffin tray
step 3 fry the mince with the onion add
          add mix vegetable
           whisk 5 eggs with 1/2 cup
           bake it for 15 minutes

After baking it take it out and let it cool down when you take it will look gold and it will smell nice.

Sun Smart & Melanoma

SLIP, SLOP, SLAP before you seek and slide.

Slip means slip on a shirt, slop means slop on sunscreen, slap means slap on a hat, seek means find shade or shelter.

If your do all 3 you will be safe in the sun.

Make sure you wear long pants, Long sleeve t shirts, and covered shoes, and a hat or an umbrella to protect your whole body.

Making sure you don’t wear a short singlet or else you might get burned or tanned.

Over 350 New Zealanders are dying from skin cancer every year.

You can get melanoma from the hot burning sun.

Skin cancer is the most common cancer that affects New Zealanders.

Melanoma is a skin cancer that can affect your body parts.

Melanoma often starts of with a mole and then it becomes big.

Bob Marley the reggae star died because of melanoma.

If you Slip,Slop,Slap. It will help you to protect yourself from the Hot Sun.

Before you go outside to play on the hot sunny day, You have to think about your skin, If you go outside you might get sun burnt or melanoma. Melanoma is very dangerous, You can die or you can get skin cancer.

When you go outside you have to use the Slip, Slop, Slap before you seek and slide. It can help you to protect yourself from the sun. If you wear short pants, short sleeve t shirt you might get a chance to get melanoma, that way we use Slip Slop Slap.

In New Zealand 350 people are dying because of skin cancer, skin cancer is just like melanoma. Skin cancer is the most common cancer that affect New Zealanders. On day this famous Reggae star Bob Marley died because of melanoma.

If you wear sunscreen and you but it all around your body you will be safe to play outside in the sun.

Recount About Niva from Duffy Assembly

         Recount About Niva from Duffy Assembly

On Monday we had Duffy Role Model Assembly. Our role model was Niva. She came to tell us about how reading is important.  

Niva struggled to work on ready when she was still in school, she told us a catchphrase it goes it cool to read and it cool to achieve. She never gave up on ready she tried her best when she reads, shoe goes to the library with her symbols everyday. Now she is good a read because she never gave up.

Niva has been in the radio industry for 30 year, She was raised up in Invercargill by her samoan parents, she has been working in the radio around Samoa and New Zealand. The 40 year old is currently employed as the afternoon newsleader on newstalk ZB based in Auckland.   

Niva loves to talk and talk, she loves to read. Niva read us a story called Kisses Kisses. It was fun because she read it was excitement and it was funny.  

Apart from chatting non stop, Niva's other hobby is running marathons. To date, she has run six marathons including in New York, Queenstown, Paris and Beirut. Niva Retimanu is a great and happy role model.

Christchurch In Russell

Christchurch In Russell

On Tuesday 22 August  2017,  the year 7 and 8 student from Glenbrae School visited  Christchurch in Russell as part as our school camp. We went there to learn about the Maori, Tamati Waka Nene, and the British church. This played an important part   

When we arrived in russell we had to go into the Church we learnt about the Christchurch, when we looked at the church there are still bullet holes in the church that the Maori shot. In front of the church it has Tamati Waka Nene grave stone. And we saw Miss Elia our  principal Great great great grandfather’s grave and his name was William Cook.

Once we left the Christchurch we went to the toilet because some people wanted to go toilet. When we finished we had to talk about what we learned in there.

As soon as we finished we had to go back to our campsite to have Morning Tea.  

It was fun having to see the most oldest house in New Zealand, And history about the church and Tamati Wakanene.

How to Cook French Toast

WALT:Use Time Words in our Writing.

French Toast

1.Bread

2.Egg

3.¼ cup (60ml) milk

4.Frying pan

5.Spoon

6.Pepper

7.Oil

9.Salt

10.Fork

                                                               Steps

1.First whisk the eggs in a large bowl.

2.When stirring the eggs in the bowl, sprinkle some pepper and salt in the mixture.

3.Preheat a non-stick frypan at medium-high heat.

4.Drizzle some oil in the pan.

5.Then dip each slice of bread in the egg mixture and then turn until both sides are covered

6. Then put the slice of bread into the frypan.

7. Cook for 2-3 minutes each side until golden and brownish.

8. Then take it out of the pan using a fork

9. Place on a plate and enjoy.
