Day 5: Step At A Time

Day 5: Step At A Time
After a long day at the beach, it is now time to move away from the water and drive inland, through the middle of the south island. You are going to start in Nelson and drive south before crossing a huge mountain range called the ‘Southern Alps.’ The scenery is going to be amazing!
Activity 1: After a few hours in the car, you, your group and Curious Kiwi arrive at your first stop – The Lewis Pass Scenic Reserve. It is a beautiful, regional park located at the base of the Southern Alps. You and your group get out of the van and follow Curious Kiwi. He is going to lead you on a short walk through the park. As you start walking, you notice a really cool looking tree on the side of the trail and you stop to take a closer look. When you turn back, the group (and Curious Kiwi) is nowhere to be found. Eek! You are all alone in the middle of a strange forest.
                                                                               Step At A Time
When I ask Wiki to take a photo of me and the tree, I looked back at the tree to see if there was any information on the stone in front of it. I looked back and Wiki wasn't there. I screamed “WIKI THIS ISN'T FUNNY”, then I heard something on the bush I ran fast like Usain Bolt. Then I stopped to take a quick break then I heard a someone scream “Curious Curious” it sounded like Wiki, and he screamed “Curious” it was getting far and far I followed the voice of Curious and while I was running I saw the my camera, I was scared I got my phone up and called the police, Once I press the call button my phone died. I was scared, When I was walking I saw a track it was straight I followed it because I thought it was going to take me out of the forest, suddenly the track stopped I looked up and it was a two story house, It had trees surrounding it, It had ropes around with blood all over it. Then I heard  Wiki voice “Curious, Curious” Im in here,  I looked around and saw Wiki, I walk towards the door I was scared as hell, Once I was going to knock I looked down and I was pissing that how scared I was. Opened the door and there was pictures around, I walk up stairs and there was a phone I rang 111 for the police, It rang and the police called it I said, “ Hello My name is Curious my friend is missing where in a forest called The Lewis Pass Scenic Reserve. Where in a house that like 2 hours walk from the parking. I heard Wiki voice “Curious, Curious Come I saw a gun on the flow I picked it up and there was a door that was closed but the light was still on. I kicked the door and it was a guy that was going to shoot Wiki I hold the run up I saw the man that was going to shoot Wiki holding the trigger he was going to pull it but I shot him, I cried because I haven't shoot A person before, I got Wiki out of the house and walk out, Once we walk out the police arrived, I took them up stories. When I walk out a police man slipped right in front of the door, He sped up because it smelled, They Rush the man to hospital and he survived, They said I was not going to jail because he had a weapon and he was going to shoot.
For this activity write a short story (8-10 sentences) about what might happen next. Please be sure to include lots of details about what you might be feeling, seeing and doing after you realise that you are all alone in the forest...

Activity 2: After the adventure at The Lewis Pass Scenic Reserve, you are pretty happy to get back into the shuttle van and continue with your road trip. Over the next few hours you travel up and over the Southern Alps, arriving in the city of Christchurch to eat lunch. You have a delicious meal at a café downtown and then hop back into the van to travel to Twizel, a small town at the base of Aoraki-Mt Cook. Mt Cook is the largest mountain in New Zealand. It is also the mountain where Sir Edmund Hillary trained for his climb up Mt Everest – the tallest mountain in the world. Sir Edmund Hillary is very famous because he was the first person to ever reach the top of Mt Everest!
On the Next day we decided to go for a tour to where famous people went. First I ask Wiki if we could use his grandma's Van, he went to ask and she said yes, Once we hopped in the ride we were of. Then I ask Wiki where we going, Then Wiki said we're going to the Southern Alps, but first we went to have a nice cup of hot chocolate and a muffin for breakfast at Christchurch. When we sit and finished touring around the Southern alps we went to a city called Twizel, Twizel is a small town at the base of Aoraki-Mt Cook. we went to buy after a long drive from christchurch to Twizel we went to the fish and chips shop to buy some food. We went to Mt cook to eat. We backed the van and there was a table we went and sat there we started eating we looked up to the top and there was full of snow it was cold but lucky we were warm. It said on the stone that Mt Cook is the largest mountain in New Zealand. It is the mountain where Sir Edmund Hillary trained for his climb up Mt Everest, the tallest mountain in the world. Sir Edmund Hillary is a famous New Zealander because he was the first person to reach the top of Mt Everest. We started taking photos and then Wiki was tired so we drove back home and slept.
Now it is your turn to learn about a famous New Zealander. Use Google to research one famous person from New Zealand and then create a DLO and post it on your blog. Be sure to include: 1. The name of the famous person, 2. Where they were born, 3. Why they are famous, and 4. Two other interesting facts about them.

Paris Goepel: Paris Goepel was born Manukau, Auckland. Paris is famous because she is the best dancer in New Zealand and she leads a famous dance crew in the world called the royal family. She's a actor as well she dance in 2  movies, Step Up all and Born To Dance. She's the youngest of 4 Children.

Bonus Activity: You and your tour group have enjoyed your day in the mountains but you’re ready for a change of scenery. You ask Curious Kiwi to take you to Central Otago, a region of the south island with lots of rolling hills and flat, brown grasslands. While in Central Otago, you decide to join the Otago Central Rail Trail – a 150 km long cycle trail. Curious Kiwi and I (Rachel) cycled the Rail Trail in April and we loved it!
On your blog, tell us whether you would like to cycle the Otago Rail Trail one day. Does it sound like fun? Why or why not?

When we woke up Curious ask  Wiki is he would like to take Curious to Otago. Then Wiki said yes, So I packed my bag and we were off. Once we arrived We saw Rugby team called the highlanders I went and ask A team member if he would like to take a photo I took the photo and straight away uploaded it on Snap Chat, I ask him what was his name and he said “Malakai Fekitoa”, I said you the guy that never gave up. And he said yep. As soon as we hoped on the van there was a note that said “come and join as on a fun Otago Central Rail Train it a 150 km long cycle tail. Then  I said “wow this will be exciting” we hopped on the van and we were off. I went to buy my bike and there was a girl named Rachel I introduce myself to her and she said “hey are you here to attend the race” and I said “Yes”  . Once we  were ready we all got in line and the guy that was had the gun said “ Ready,,,,,, Steady,,,,,,, Ready,,,,,, and I looked at him and I was like “ Hey There's only one Ready duuhh” as soon as Said ready he said Go, everyone just woooom fast like a cheetah. I was coming last but then I looked back and Rachel was there. She was coming last. When it was near the finish line Me and Rachel was still coming last, I said to myself “ I didn't come her to lose I came here to WIN” so said to Rachel you know what let's do this, We just drove raster and raster and when it came to the finish line Me and Rachel came a draw. Then we had to get our mettle and me and Rachel got Gold because we both came 1st place.  Then Wiki came and we booked an hotel in dunedin. Once we got to the hotel we booked some dinner and we slept.
Bonus Activity: 10 points
Whew! It has been quite the day of sightseeing. You reach your hotel in Dunedin tired but excited. Tomorrow you are going to visit a very special and important place in the south island before you drive back to Auckland…

Kia ora Inoke,

I really enjoyed your DLO about Parris Goebel as well. I didn't know very much about her before reading your post. From what I understand, she is currently living in America and working as a choreographer with some famous artists. Do you think that she will ever move back to New Zealand? It would be wonderful to have someone with her skills back in NZ helping us to develop the talent here!

Thanks for sharing this really detailed and engaging blog post. I loved reading it and was really impressed by the quality of your work.

Keep up the great effort!!

Cheers,
Rachel
