- Cher Ami was a registered Black Check Cock carrier pigeon, one of 600 birds owned and flown by the U.S. Army Signal Corps in France during World War I.
- Cher Ami was a female homing pigeon who had been donated by the pigeon fanciers of Britain for use by the U.S. Army Signal Corps in France during World War I and had been trained by American pigeoneers.
- This pigeon was housed in world war 1 to send messages and this pigeon saved 197 men's lives. She broke a leg but she did not give up flying. Cher Ami in French means “dear friend.”
- She got shot on the leg by a sniper gun but she managed to fly back to base.She survived for one year.she earned a gold medal.
